Ein Hashofet - Overview
Ein Hashofet was the first Kibbutz to be established by founding members from North America. Today it is a modern collective community that maintains its rural nature. The visitor will surely be impressed by the unique nature of the place: the lovely landscaping, the public buildings, the art objects scattered around and the special kibbutz lifestyle. From the modern kibbutz center we move to the old "Hatzar Hameshek" which is a combination of historical buildings with a modernist character, green landscape of rolling hills and a pleasant authentic kibbutz atmosphere. Here you will find a mixture of old and new, art and craft, alongside interesting architecture - all of them in the heart of a beautiful and well maintained environment.
The Slik tour starts in the barn - a unique structure that was built according to architectural plan originating in the kibbutz early days. It was restored in 2007, keeping the original style. Red bricks, common during the British mandate, were incorporated into the restored building, along with a concrete cast. The shape of the structure - according to the architect - refers to ancient monumental buildings which glorified the Fertile Crescent and the Middle East region.
Ein- Hashofet Slik:
In 1945, the big Slik was dug under the hayloft floor, in a spot that was known only to a few confidants. After the war of independence, when the weaponry that was taken out of the Slik has been returned to it, the confidants agreed among themselves to continue and keep the weaponry in Ein Hashofet.
The people in Ein Hashofet thought all the while that the Slik – if ever there was one – ceased to exist long ago, until one day, at the age of 97, the last of the confidants decided to reveal the existence of the Slik to the public. The mysterious Slik was found under the Gym floor that operates today in Ein Hashofet.
When the Slik was excavated and revealed, in 2009, a few barrels were found. In the barrels more than 100 old weapons were hidden – a bit rusty but still intact…
Another important finding was "Al Hamishmar" - A copy of a newspaper from 1960. This finding shows that during these years, the confidants kept entering the Slik every now and then, in order to maintain the weapons.
Today you can visit the Gym and see the Slik under the floor, along with a picture exhibition, two fascinating videos and the special homemade barrels where the weapons were hidden, and the weaponry itself.

Galgamani workshop: A unique workshop that produces Buddhist-Tibetan prayer wheels using modern technology. The workshop was set up by a couple living in the Kibbutz, and a visit to the place is a rare experience."The Holy Land Prayer Wheels project" came into being through yearning and prayers for peace, unity and compassion. The recognition that the prayer wheel is not a religious object, but a spiritual one that enhances good will, compassion and loving kindness, and that who ever spins it seeks to benefit all beings in a non-selfish way, has brought this project to fulfilment.Every wheel contains with in it a prayer, and when it spins, it spreads the prayer out to the world, like ripples on the water, to all man kind and to all of creation itself.The purpose of the Holy Land Prayer Wheel project is to allow as many people in as many places as possible to disseminate and send positive intentions and good vibes out to the world, for the benefit of all beings.The project sheds light on the single thing that is common to all nations, each with its own unique tradition, prayers and rituals – the wish for a better life.Spinning the prayer wheel is also a way to obtain concentration and inner peace.Our creations are hand made with a loving heart.They are made with the intention of benefiting all beings and there for encamps great blessings. The Christian prayer wheel concept was born out of the wish of friends of ours who loved the Buddhist prayer wheel concept but wanted a prayer inside that is closer to their hearts. We have asked around and found that "The Lord's Prayer" is the most suitable prayer to be placed inside our Christen prayer wheels and so we did.
